Yellow Jacket® Table Top Extruders were the first extruders
manufactured by Wayne Machine and have a long, proud history. Compact
and
lightweight, they are ideal for research, testing, quality control, and
production applications. The extruder screw is easily removed for quick
and easy
cleaning when cross contamination is a concern. Wayne Yellow
Jacket® Table-
Top extruders are extremely versatile and are often used as lab
extruders, main
production extruders or as co-extruders. Wayne custom builds these
extruders for
special applications such as high temperature or corrosive polymer
processing. Wayne Yellow Jacket® Table Tops have some unique
advantages over competitively sized extruders and these are as follows:
- No worm drive gearbox - All Wayne extruders use double reduction
helical gearboxes for less gear wear, less gearbox frictional heat and
more efficient power transmission to the screw. This results in reduced
stalling and more stable output as required for laboratory tests and
production applications.
- One piece barrel with EDM feed hole means Yellow Jackets have
full wear resistant bimetallic lining in the feed section that can't be
misaligned as opposed to competitive machines that have separate soft
stainless steel feed sections which wear out easier and are easily
misaligned during operation and maintenance causing screw damage
- Industry standard feed end driven screws are used for easy scale
up to production machines without translation losses.
- Since no dynamic seals are required, all the problems that can be
caused by them including seal surging, polymer stagnation and
degradation and flooding of the gearbox with polymer when the seals
wear and fail, are eliminated.
- Screw break protection and deformation prevention are achieved
through the use of high strength screw alloys and advanced electronic
torque limiting features of the drive.
- Yellow Jackets feature a Heavy duty thrust bearing section. Many
other lab extruders use only the gearbox bearings to bear the thrust
and this leads to premature gearbox failure.
- The downstream end of the barrel is supported for strength and
die stability during operation.
- The toothed timing belt drive allows for easy speed range changes
when compared to directly coupled motor and gearbox designs.
