Yellow Jacket Plastic Specimen Extrusion Molding Systems

Yellow Jacket Plastic Specimen Extrusion Molding Systems

Wayne Yellow Jacket Plastic Specimen Extrusion Molding Systems are ideal for quickly making:

A wide variety of specimens can be made one at a time or in multiple cavity mode on Yellow Jacket Plastic Specimen Extrusion Molding equipment. The systems are versatile and flexible because a quick change insert system allows you to go from one type of test to another simply by changing one insert. For example, you can change quickly from making a "dog bone" specimen to a "circular" type specimen.

Standardized test specimens are easily made for all types of plastic tests including, but not limited to, the following:

Mold layout

Extruders from 1/4" up to 1" are typically used on these molds. New extruders can be supplied as complete systems or the molds can be adapted to fit your existing extruders. Wayne Yellow Jacket Extruders feature the industry standard feed end driven screw design for experimental validity on scale up and heavy duty double reduction helical gearboxes for experimental reliability from specimen to specimen.

Easy operation is a key feature of the system. The mold is filled by the extruder until a small amount of material exits the weep hole at the far end of the mold. When material exits this hole, the mold has been filled. Water cooling is then applied to the mold and it can be opened and the specimen is removed. A melt pressure indicator with high limit screw shutdown is optional. The mold is easily re-assembled, (the insert can be changed to a different style if you wish) and the system is ready to make another specimen!

Multilayer samples can be made from two or more plastics using a feedblock and two or more extruders before the extrusion mold. This allows A-B, A-B-C, and other configurations. Ask for our feedblock literature for more information.
