Wayne Yellow Jacket® Cast Film Take-Off units are ideal for making cast film for laboratory testing and small production. They can be used with mono-layer and co-extruded cast film. Wayne take-off systems are suitable for all types of flexible thermoplastics and some other types of materials. Since they are robust units, they are suited for emulation and testing for scale up on larger cast film lines. Wayne Yellow Jacket® Take off units have some unique features that make them easy to work with:cast film picture

  • No cordal action is seen on the cast film because Wayne Take-offs use no chains, no belts and no sheaves which avoids the ribbed surface on the cast film that occurs when chains are used to drive rolls.
  • Dual drive tach follower system is standard for continuously variable adjustment of tension. Most small cast film take-offs use chains between the chrome cooling roll and the nip rolls, which limits the user to only one tension. The unique Wayne tension control system gives maximum flexibility since a pot adjustment changes the speed ratio of the nip rolls and the chrome roll to give you exactly the amount of tension you want. The Wayne system leaves these 'stone age' chain drive systems far behind!
  • Rolls open vertically for easy thread through and quick release in an emergency. With one press of the emergency stop, the rolls open and the drive stops for operator safety.
  • Surface winder is an integral part of the unit, which avoids the necessity of another piece of equipment. Universally available low cost cardboard cores are used to wind samples. The winder is always there when you need it! Optional Freestanding Torque Winder is available with the same speed ratio control described above, and an additional pot to adjust the torque limit of the motor for tension control.
