Wayne Yellow Jacket® Blown Film Tower & Take-off units are
ideal
for making blown film for laboratory testing and small production. They
can be
used with mono-layer and co-extruded blown film dies. Wayne take off
systems are
suitable for all types of flexible thermoplastics and some other types
of
materials. Since they are robust units, they are suited for emulation
and
testing for scale up on larger blown film lines. They are ideal for use
with
standard height 42" centerline extruders, or can be specified for use
with
low-boy designs. They easily accommodate up to three extruders for
co-extrusion
situations. Wayne Yellow Jacket® Blown Film Tower & Take-off
units have
some unique features that make them easy to work with:
- Integrated system components are all on one base including the
tower,
controls, upper nip, lower nip and surface winder. There is no
difficulty in
aligning the different parts because they are all on one base!
- Lower nip rolls and drive are included to assist in maintaining
tension
and stability in the film as it is taken-off. This is superior to crude
lab
systems that do not have a lower nip roll and simply use idler rolls
which feed
directly from the upper nip to the winder. Use of lower nips also helps
to
prevent the winder from "pulling through" the upper nip and causing
additional unwanted tension on the blown film bubble. It is also
impossible to
use those other systems to emulate larger lines and scale up, because
all large
lines have lower nips! Wayne Yellow Jacket Blown Film Systems have a
open /
close pneumatic cylinder control of the upper and lower nips for quick
and easy
threading of the film.
- Dual drive tach follower
system is standard for continuously variable
adjustment of tension. Most small blown film lines have no lower nip
and a
separate winder. The unique Wayne tension control system gives maximum
flexibility since a pot adjustment changes the speed ratio of the upper
nip
rolls and the lower nip rolls to give you exactly the amount of tension
you
want. Optional torque control on the lower nip allows the torque of the
lower
nip to be adjusted easily with a pot. The Wayne system leaves these
crude 'stone
age' lab film take-off systems far behind!
- Rolls open for easy thread through and quick release in an
emergency.
With one press of the emergency stop, both the upper nip and the lower
nip rolls
open and the drive stops for operator safety.
- Surface winder is an integral part of the unit which avoids the
necessity
of another piece of equipment. Universally available low cost cardboard
cores
are used to wind samples. The winder is always there when you need it!
Optional
Torque Winder is available with the same speed ratio control described
above,
and an additional pot to adjust the torque limit of the motor for
tension
control.
- Rotating or Oscillating Top Nip is available to assist in the
prevention
of uneven film which results in uneven winding. This is a major feature
which is
typically not found on other laboratory or small production blown film
systems.
This unique Wayne feature is available because of the robust
construction and
flexible engineering of Wayne systems.
